Alpha Lipoic Acid is a naturally occurring fatty acid with antioxidant properties. It is both water and fat soluble, and is made in the mitochondria of cells but also found in foods and supplements. It can be found in many foods like broccoli, potatoes, spinach and yeast. It can also be found in organ meats like kidney or liver. It is used in the body to break down carbohydrates so as to make energy for the other organs in the body.
