Description
Barley Syrup is a liquid sweetener that is made from soaked and sprouted barley. It has a very strong flavor and a consistency that is similar to molasses. It is dark brown, thick and sticky, and possesses a strong distinctive flavor described as "malty". Malt syrup is used widely in the food and beverage industry. It is an important ingredient in snacks like bagels, sauces, pretzels, and bakery products and accessories like frosting sugar. It is a natural sweetener and is extensively used to reduce yeast and make bread extra delicious. Barley malt syrup is 65 percent maltose, a sugar that enters the bloodstream more slowly than simple sugars. The malting process also increases the levels of B vitamins in the product, and it contains trace amounts of some minerals.
