Description
Chitrakmool is a large perennial herb with glabrous, climbing, erect stem found throughout India. It has thin, ovate, petiolate(narrow) leaves upto 4 cm in length. Its flowers have white corollas, around 17-33 mm in diameter with elongated spikes. It has woody, striate and spreading stems. Its capsules are long(7.5 to 8mm), narrowly tubular with reddish brown seeds. It is one of the digestive and carminative herbs of ayurveda. It has been used for hundreds of years by rural and tribal people as a traditional system of medicine.Â
