Description
Edible charcoal is made by burning bamboo, bone char, petroleum, coke, coal or coconut shell, heated at high temperatures and oxidized. As it is ‘activated’ by being processed at high temperatures, it is called activated charcoal. It has sponge-like texture, with a lot of small holes in its surface, making it more porous. It is used to add black color to foods, giving them an exotic appearance. It can be used along with ghee as well in cooking preparations.
