Emulsifying & Stabilizing Agent (INS 419) is a complex water-soluble polysaccharide, exuded from the bark of the tree Anogeissus latifolia of the family Combretaceae. It is amorphous and translucent in appearance, varies in color from yellowish-white to reddish-brown. As a powder, it is odorless, buff white to tan-brown in color. It is used as a food additive in the form of an emulsifier, stabilizer, and thickener.
