Description

Hippophae is a small genus of thorny deciduous Old World shrubs that belong to the Elaeagnaceae family. It is an aromatic plant with strong, complex roots. The leaves of this plant are narrow, alternate and lanceolate with a silver-gray colour. The ripe berries are drupe-like and orange-red in colour. It is an exceptionally hardy plant that can withstand winter temperatures as low as −43 °C.
