Description
Ice cream is a type of sweetened frozen food dessert. It may be made from dairy milk or cream and is usually flavored with a sweetener, nuts, fruit essence, or sometimes a spice as well. Ice cream is quite an unhealthy option of snack or dessert, especially in large amounts because it is an energy-dense food and has a high content of carbohydrates, sugar, and fat. The ice creams that we enjoy today are said to have been invented in Italy during the 17th century. The very first flavor was orange blossom! Ice cream may be served in dishes, for eating with a spoon or licked from edible cones. Though typically made from cow's milk, these days there are various dairy alternatives, such as goat's milk, sheep's milk, or milk substitutes like soy, cashew, coconut, almond milk etc. for those who are lactose intolerant, allergic to dairy protein, or vegan. Ice creams may be served either as a dessert alone or with other desserts like apple pie, or as an ingredient in ice cream floats, sundaes, milkshakes, ice cream cakes etc.
