Description

Iodised salt is common table salt to which a small amount of sodium iodide or potassium iodide has been added. It is a processed form of sea salt that is fortified with iodine. It was introduced in India in the late 1950s.

  • Iodised salt helps to prevent iodine deficiency, which may result in goitre or hypothyroidism.(1)
