Description
Isolated Wheat Protein is a dietary supplement rich in protein but low in carbohydrates and fat. Wet-processing of wheat flour yields two important co-products: starch and gluten (protein). Wheat gluten contains seventy-five percent protein and is known as wheat protein concentrate. Further processing of this gluten yields a higher protein product (nearly ninety percent protein) known as wheat protein isolate. This isolated wheat protein works as a suitable alternative to to another popular protein supplement, whey, because unlike whey, wheat protein isolate is not made from dairy products and does not contain lactose (A sugar). Wheat protein isolate is a very rich source of protein. With each serving containing around 20 g protein, isolated wheat protein is suitable for post-workout recovery. Because wheat protein isolate is a wheat product, it may contain gluten, a type of protein found in grains. Although many people can digest gluten without a problem, those with celiac disease experience digestive system problems like nausea, diarrhea, bloating, indigestion or even intestinal damage.
