Description

Lactobacillus acidophilus is a type of bacteria found in the intestines. These are "friendly" bacteria that normally live in our digestive, urinary, and genital systems without causing disease. This bacteria helps the digestive system to break down sugars, such as lactose, into lactic acid. Lactobacillus acidophilus is often sold as an herbal supplement. Some strains of Lactobacilli are used to make cheese and yogurt. These are Lactobacillus bulgaricus.

  • Researchers suggest that L. acidophilus, may lower the risk of getting depression or even help treat symptoms in people with depression. (1)
