Description
Mint is an aromatic herb in the mint family. It can be found naturally in North America and Europe. It is a popular herb that can be used fresh or dried in many dishes and infusions. Using fresh mint and other herbs and spices in cooking can help a person add flavor while reducing their sodium and sugar intake. However, it can also be sued in the form of oil while or after cooking. Mint oil is commonly used as flavoring in foods and beverages. This oil can be extracted from the leaves of the peppermint plant and is used for a variety of different purposes. Mint oil might not be available under all brands and stores but considering the range of health benefits that it possesses, mint oil can be made at home. Just crush the freshly plucked peppermint leaves and put it into a jar. Pack them in there until the jar is full. Fill the jar with olive oil covering all the leaves, till the neck level. Let the oil steep in now and continue to shake the jar every 12 hours for next 2 days. After the steeping period is finished, strain the oil using a fine strainer. Store the peppermint oil in a dark, dry and warm place.
