Description
Musta (Cyperus rotundus) is a perennial plant of a species of sedge (Cyperaceae) native to Africa, southern and central Europe, and southern Asia. Its leaves sprout in ranks of three from the base of the plant and flower stems have a triangular cross-section. Its roots form white, fleshy rhizomes in chains. The tubers are oblong, ovate shaped and blackish-brown in color. It is a widely used herb in Ayurveda since ancient times.
