Description

Nori is an edible seaweed which is a species of the red algae genus Pyropia. They are the dried thin sheets prepared by shredding and drying this seaweed. It turns blackish-green when dried. It is widely used in Asian cuisine.

  • Nori is rich in dietary iodine that helps to prevent hypothyroidism and enlargement of the thyroid gland.(1)

Selection Guide

Choose dark green-black color nori in sheets, flakes or powder form, packed in tightly sealed packaging.

Note

Nori has high levels of sodium hence excessive consumption of this seaweed may lead to chronic kidney disease, cirrhosis and heart disease.(3)
