Description
Permitted Class II Preservatives (INS217) also known as Sodium propyl p-hydroxybenzoate is a synthetic ethyl ester of benzoic acid. Benzoic acid, benzoates and benzoic acid esters are commonly found in most fruits, especially berries. It occurs naturally in mushrooms, cinnamon, cloves and some dairy products (as a result of bacterial fermentation). It is used as a preservative against both yeasts and fungi.
