Description
Sweetener (E953) is a type of sugar alcohol (combination of two sugar alcohol- glucose-mannitol (GPM) and glucose-sorbitol (GPS) ) used for its sugar-like physical properties. It is white, crystalline and odourless, and its sweetness is approximately 60% to that of sugar. It is produced by converting sugar to isomaltulose, then hydrogenated to form isomalt. It can be used as a synthetic sweetener in food and drink products as a substitute to sugar.
