Description

Anticaking Agents (INS 470) are a group of additives synthetically manufactured. They are sodium, potassium, calcium and magnesium salts of fatty acids mainly from plant sources and sometimes from animal source. The acids are a combination of stearic, oleic, palmitic and myristicin acid. As anti-caking agents, they prevent formation of lumps in food products thus maintaining a uniform texture or consistency.

Note

Anticaking Agents (INS 470) can be obtained from animal sources and could pose a problem for vegans and vegetarians.(1)
