Description

Beta carotene is a strongly-colored red-orange pigment. It is an organic compound which is found naturally in plants and fruits, especially carrots and colorful vegetables. It is red to brownish-red crystals or crystalline powder. It is converted into Vitamin A once it enters the body. The foods which are rich in beta carotene are apricots, asparagus, broccoli, carrots, chinese cabbage, dandelion leaves, plums, spinach etc.

Note

Excess consumption of it may cause headache, burping, loose stools, bruising, joint pain and yellowing skin.(1)
