Caribbean chilli is a variety of hot chilli and a cultivar of Capsicum chinense. It is almost 1.5 inches in size and appears in the shape of a bonnet. It has four globular ridges at the bottom and turns from green to yellow to scarlet red when ripe. It also has some varieties ripening to shades of orange and brown. It has a smooth, waxy touch and is found everywhere in West Africa. It is of Jamaican origin and most common in Caribbean foods. It is often used in hot sauces and condiments as well.Â
