L-Glutamine may cause allergic reactions to some people like nausea, hives, vomiting and joint pain. Research studies show that certain types of tumor cells feed off L-glutamine and multiply, so people with cancer, or those who have a high risk of cancer must avoid L-glutamine supplements.(2)

Description
L-Glutamine is one of the form of glutamine, the other one being D-glutamine. L-glutamine is considered to be an important form, produced naturally in the body(abundantly in blood and muscle cells) and found in many foods(like cabbage, spinach, fish, chicken, lentils, beets, peas, beans, dairy and tofu). It is synthesized from glutamic acid and ammonia, and is the principle carrier of nitrogen in the body. Being an essential amino acid, it is involved in many metabolic processes and is considered to be an important energy source for many cells. It is used as a supplement if the body is in need and cannot produce enough (even though it can be made by the body), to meet body's requirements.
