Description

Vitamin B3 is a type of vitamin that includes three forms: nicotinamide (niacinamide), niacin (nicotinic acid), and nicotinamide riboside. Together in a group, these are occasionally referred to as vitamin B3 complex. All of these three forms are converted within the body to nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD). NAD is considered essential for human life and human beings are unable to make it within their bodies. Vitamin B3 can be highly absorbed from food sources that include beans, milk, meat, and eggs. It is highly bioavailable from enriched flour as well.

Note

Overdose of vitamin B3 can headache, skin dryness and itching. Doses over 2gms a day can cause liver toxicity. Doses between 3-9 grams per day are known to cause fulminant hepatitis(inflammation of liver tissue). (2)
