Black forest cake from leftover rotis recipe

One day it happened that guest had come for lunch and after the lunch i found that around 10 rotis were left extra. Generally we make leftover roti laddus or wraps or upma but i was sure no one would eat anything like that! So thought to make a scrumptious and healthy cake. Once made had kept the cake sponge (cling wrapped) in the fridge for 12 hours. Next day frosted it with whipped cream.

Ingredients For Black forest cake from leftover rotis recipe

Methods
  • 1. Crush the leftover rotis on pulse mode keep it in a bit granule form. (10 small rotis have been used.)
  • 2. Mix whole wheat flour, cocoa powder, baking powder and baking soda.
  • 3. Sieve the dry ingredients 3 times and mix well with crushed rotis in a bowl.
  • 4. Keep the dry ingredients aside.
  • 5. In another bowl take grated jaggery add curd and whisk it till both of them mix properly.
  • 6. Now add the vanilla essence to it.
  • 7. Keep whisking continuously and add oil gradually. Now add milk and the dry ingredients in two parts one by one.
  • 8. Transfer the properly mixed cake batter into a greased baking tin.
  • 9. Bake in a preheated oven for 35-40 mins till properly baked.
  • 10. After it is baked cool it on wire rack. Then cling wrap it and keep it in fridge for atleast 4-5 hours so it's easy to cut it into layers.
  • 11. Take whipping cream in a vessel kept in freezer for about half an hour. Keep the rods of the hand beater also in the freezer.
  • 12. Thaw the whipping cream for about an hour and whip it till soft peaks on slow speed and then whip till you get stiff peaks on high speed.
  • 13. The quantity of the whipped cream will double.
  • 14. Now remove the cake from the fridge and cut it into four layers equally and carefully. If there is a dome formed above then cut it.
  • 15. Place one part of the cake sponge on the cake board soak it with sugar syrup. Cover it with whipped cream and spread chocolate chips on it.
  • 16. Similarly do it for next layers. For the last layer soak it only with sugar syrup and then cover it with whipped cream.
  • 17. Cover the full cake with whipped cream. Now make design at the bottom of the cake.
  • 18. Now make swirls on top part of the cake by filling whipped cream in a piping bag having star nozzle.
  • 19. Decorate it with colourrd chocolate chips and heart shaped sugar decorations.
