Recipe Notes

If your are making for children, use less spices. Gram should be completely cooked. If you want little gravy , don’t add extra water ,cook it with gram slock only.

Ingredients For Black Gram Curry Recipe

Methods
  • 1. Rinse and wash soaked grams. In a pressure cooker add soaked grams 1/2 tsp salt,1/4tsp turmeric powders and 3 times water from grams.
  • 2. Cook it for 5-6 whistles or until grams completely softened.
  • 3. Take a mixer jar, add onion, ginger, garlic, green chilli and 1-2 tsp water .Grind it well to make smooth paste .Transfer it in a bowl.
  • 4. In same jar grind the tomatoes.
  • 5. Take a wok heat oil. Add cumin seeds . When it turns brown add grinded onions. Roast it on low medium flame for 4-5 minutes. Add tomato puree,salt and turmeric powder.Mix it well. Saute till oil starts releasing.
  • 6. Add red chilli powder, black pepper powder, amchur powder . Mix it .
  • 7. Now add boiled grams with gram stock . Mix it with masala , sauté for 2-3 minutes. Add more water to maintain right consistency.
  • 8. Cover the lid . Simmer it on low heat for 10-15 minutes.
  • 9. When the curry starts thicken add garam masala and kasuri methi.
  • 10. Mix it well. Taste salt and spices. Sprinkle coriander leaves.Turn off the flame.
  • 11. Serve this spicy black gram curry with Rice, Roti or Paratha
