Before making the dhokla batter seave the besan with the seave. Batter should not be thin.

Ingredients For Dhokla Recipe

Methods
  • 1. Take a mixing bowl add all the ingredients except baking soda mix it well with water make a smooth batter. Rest it for 15 to 20 minutes.
  • 2. Meanwhile grease plates or thalis using oil.
  • 3. Pour approx 2 - 3 cups water in steamer at bottom and heat it
  • 4. After 25 minutes check the batter. If required add 1-2 teaspoon water. Just before steaming add baking soda mix gently the batter will become frothy.
  • 5. Immediately transfer the batter in greased the plate. Placing the plates in steamer.
  • 6. Steam the dhokla on medium flame for 15- 20 minutes after 15 minutes check the dhokla with the toothpick if it comes out clean turn off the flame. Remove it. Keep aside let it cool.
  • 7. Heat oil in a small pan. Add mustard seeds and cumin seeds. Once seeds crackle, add curry leaves, green chilies. Add sesame seeds and sugar. SautĂ© for few seconds . Mix nicely . turn off the heat. Add 1-2 tsp water.
  • 8. Pour this tempering over the dhokla.Cut it into pieces. Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve.
