I make it for Deewali for my friends. These Crispy and delicious Kalami vada are tasty to eat and also can be served very easily. If some guest are arriving at your place, after frying these vada's cut and keep them and once the guests arrives fry them all over again and serve hot kalmi vada to them. Recipe Notes

You can make vada in advance ,cut and deep fry before serving. Or you can fry then crispy ,cool and keep in airtight box. Can be serves as chaat with dahi or khatti meethi chutney.

Ingredients For Kalmi wada Recipe

Methods
  • 1. Add, coriander seeds, crushed 8 black pepper corns, baking soda ,fennel seeds and salt to chana dal paste and mix well. Divide the mixture into 10 equal portions.
  • 2. Flatten the chana dal mixture lightly using wet fingers to make a (4”) diameter vada of (¼”) thickness.
  • 3. Heat oil in a pan or kadhai, slide the vada in the hot oil and deep fry till light brown colour, over a medium flame.
  • 4. Cut the vadas into long strips and deep fry again till they are golden brown and crisp.
