In a mixing bowl, add all purpose flour, baking powder, curd and mix well. Now using lukewarm water make a batter. The batter should be neither too thick nor runny. Now rest the batter for 15 minutes.

To make the sugar syrup, mix sugar and water and stir till the sugar dissolves. Keep boiling till it reaches one string consistency. Add the Saffron strands, lemon juice and switch off the heat.

To fry the jalebis take a wide pan and add sufficient oil. Pour the batter in a sauce bottle. When the oil is medium hot, pour the jalebi batter in circular motion into the oil. Fry as many as possible in a batch. Fry them golden brown from both sides and immediately dip them into the sugar syrup.

Let them absorb syrup for about 3-4 minutes and strain. Serve hot.
