Firstly, clean the prawns properly and wash them really well. Now marinate with salt and turmeric powder. Heat up some oil in a pan and shallow fry the prawns. Don't fry too much or else the prawns will turn rubbery.

Next, in the same pan, temper with whole dried red chilli, cardamom, cloves and cinnamon . When the spices release aroma, add the onion paste. Saute till the onions are brown. Next, add the ginger garlic paste, powdered spices, salt and cook till the spices release oil.

Next, add the coconut milk, and let the gravy come to a boil. You may add water if the gravy seems too thick. Add the fried prawns. Cover and cook for 10-12 minutes in low flame. Next, open the lid and add garam masala powder, sugar. Take on a serving plate, garnish with cream and serve hot.
