Shepherd's Pie is basically a non vegetarian dish made of lamb meat.But here I have replaced meat with our own soya granules and cottage cheese .Combined with cheese and potato mash,this turned out to be a match made in heaven.

Recipe Notes

After removing from oven,let it sit for few minutes before cutting .This resting time helps the butter and cheese to set.

Methods
  • 1. Soak soya granules in hot water for about half an hour.
  • 2. Meanwhile heat 2 tbsp butter and saute garlic in it.
  • 3. Add chopped onion and saute them. Add chopped tomato and sautĂ© till mushy.
  • 4. Now add soaked and squeezed soya granules, salt and cook for few minutes.
  • 5. Add paneer and chopped veggies and 1 tsp pepper powder, spices and cook . Add tomato puree and mix well.
  • 6. Mash boiled potatoes. Add 1/4 cup melted butter, warm milk some salt and black pepper to it.
  • 7. Mix well so that the mash becomes smooth and fluffy.
  • 8. Grease a baking dish with melted butter and spread the soya mix in it. Level with a spatula.
  • 9. Spread grated cheese over it. Over it. Spread the potato mash.
  • 10. Level it with spatula. With the help of a fork, make waves on the top.
  • 11. Sprinkle some dried herbs and red chilli flakes and chopped coriander.
  • 12. Bake this for 30-35 minutes at 180 degrees in a preheated oven or till the upper layer becomes golden brown.
  • 13. Serve hot with garlic bread.
