Dal dhokli Recipe

This is a traditional Gujarati dish. It is a one pot meal, healthy and stomach filling. No need to any accompniment with this dish. This is my one of the favourite lunch menu for lazy Sunday. It is made with wheat flour dumplings in boiled tuvar dal. We can make it with leftover dal also.

Ingredients For Dal dhokli Recipe

Methods
  • 1. Wash and soak tuvar dal in water for 15-20 minutes.
  • 2. Then boil in pressure cooker with enough water till 3 whistles.
  • 3. Then blend with blender.
  • 4. Knead dough with wheat flour, salt, turmeric powder, red chili powder, oil and enough water.
  • 5. Keep consistency of dough that you can easily roll out.
  • 6. Make big balls from it and keep aside.
  • 7. Now in a pan heat oil and ghee. Add mustard seeds and ajwain.
  • 8. When crackles add dry red chillies, asafoetida, curry leaves and raw peanuts.
  • 9. Add blended dal and approximate 1 cup of water.
  • 10. Add salt, turmeric powder, red chili powder, dhania Jeera powder and jaggery into.
  • 11. Keep flame low and allow it to boil.
  • 12. Meanwhile roll out roti from the balls and cut into square or diagonal shape.
  • 13. Drop into boiling dal.
  • 14. Cook for 7-8 minutes or until dhokli tenders well. Stir in between.
  • 15. Add lemon juice and chopped coriander leaves. Tempting daldhokli is ready to serve.
  • 16. Pour some ghee over it while serving.
