Recipe Notes

Make sure rajma should be properly boiled otherwise it Will creat stomach problem. If you don’t like mustard oil you can use normal vegetable oil . At the time of boiling rajma if we add onion and tomato it helps to make curry thick,

Ingredients For PUNJABI STYLE RED KIDNEY BEANS CURRY

Methods
  • 1. Drain water from the soaked rajma. Wash it. In a pressure cooker add rajma , three times more water from rajma, 1 onion roughly chopped, 1 tomato roughly chopped, 1/2 tsp salt ,1/4 tsp turmeric powder. Pressure cook it for 15-20 minutes or until rajma perfectly cooked.
  • 2. Take a mixer jar , add onions , ginger, garlic and chilli in it. Add 1-2 tsp water , grind it well to make smooth paste.
  • 3. Transfer it in a bowl. In same jar grind tomatoes and make puree.
  • 4. Take a large wok ,heat oil in it . Add cumin seeds and bay leaves , when cumin turns brown add hing ,onion mixture. Roast it on low medium flame till it becomes light brown . Stir continuesly.
  • 5. Add tomato puree , salt , turmeric powder, coriander powder, amchur poder in it .
  • 6. Roast on low medium flame for 4-5 minutes.
  • 7. Add whisked curd . Mix it well .stir continuesly.
  • 8. Now add boiled rajma .Mix it . Add water to maintain the consistency of curry. Cook it on low medium flame till it slightly thickens .
  • 9. Add garam masala and crushed kasuri methi .Turn off the flame.
  • 10. Transfer in a serving bowl.Garnish with coriander leaves. Serve with Rice , salad . Enjoy.
